CONSTABLE MAMADOU DRENG
NG Male Human Ex-Paladin 4 / Rogue 4
Originally a paladin of a southern order dedicated to the Radiant Orb, Dreng did his best to live up to the aspect's ideals for many years, but he could never quite follow the order's code when the temptation to cut corners was at its strongest. He was always at his best when battling evil with underhanded tricks: employing ambushes, faking injuries and luring opponents into traps. Although he was always fighting for the cause of the weak and downtrodden, whenever a just cause was truly on the line, Dreng could not resist the temptation to lie or sneak in order to get the job done. Dreng knew his actions were a slippery slope not only for him but also for the rest of his order. Rather than bring his superiors and colleagues into disrepute, he decided it best to resign and go his own way.
Dreng wandered for years, eventually making his way to Northern Primordia, and thence to the village of Hannsport, which was looking for a new constable.
Constable Dreng has served ably for several years, settling down in the fishing port and earning the respect of every villager. He hasn't been able to get his friend, brother Markus, to drink with him (or to drink at all, for that matter), but he hasn't given up hope. He enjoys his job, and works hard at keeping an orderly peace. A part of Dreng, however, has always felt guilty or perhaps incomplete that he was never able to rise to the challenge of fulfilling a paladin's oath.
